What is Continuous Provision?
‘Continuous Provision’ is the name given to the activities, resources and opportunities that are continually available to children. This guidance has been written to support KS1 colleagues (those of us working with 5-7 year olds)
We recognise that children’s learning is holistic, with mathematical learning developing alongside all other areas of learning. This guidance is written specifically for practitioners to support the mathematical potential of Continuous Provision with 5- 7- year-olds, and how we might use our observations of children in these areas to build future mathematical learning. You might find looking at our ‘Mathematical Moments’ helpful in seeing the potential of Continuous Provision to deepen and strengthen all children’s mathematical learning: https://earlymaths.org/mathematical-moments-5-6-and-7-year-olds/
